Obfuscated Objective for 11/15/2011(with bonus shameless self-promotion!)

Before presenting today’s objective, I want to engage in some shameless self-promotion.

Over the past few months, I’ve been working on a number of side projects trying to get myself involved in writing and things other than direct speech and language treatment. The first of these projects has finally come to fruition: An iOS app for assessing dysphagia that was designed by me and Tiffani Wallace and developed by Smarty Ears Apps. The app is available now on the App Store by clicking here and will be demonstrated at the Smarty Ears booth this weekend at ASHA 2011 in San Francisco.

Now, with the product promotion over…

Today’s Obfuscated Objective is a speech objective.

What you write: “Student will use verbal language to express wants and needs at a level that is appropriate for the student’s age.”

What you wanted to write: “Student will receive speech and language services appropriate for the age the child actually is – not the older age the parents wrote on all the forms to get their four-year old enrolled in kindergarten.”
